2024 Colorado & Silverado EV Are Two Finalists for North America Truck of the Year

There are three finalists for the 2024 North American Car of the Year Award, and Chevrolet of Spring Valley is happy to report that two of them are Chevrolet models. The two models include the Silverado EV and the all-new Colorado, which has just been awarded as the 2024 Motor Trend Truck of the Year. The third vehicle in the competition is the Ford Super Duty Pickup.

NACTOY President Jeff Gilbert commented, “Electric vehicles again make up more than half of our finalists. That shows how important they are to carmakers and how many more choices car buyers now have. But there is a lot of variety in this group, including a big work truck, a hybrid and a family sedan.”

In the past, the winners were announced at the Detroit Auto Show. As a departure from tradition, since that event moved to September, the 25 semi-finalists of cars, trucks and SUVs were announced during the course of the Auto Show. The nine finalists for the truck, car, and utility vehicle categories were then announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. 

Who is NACTOY?

The judges for the North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year (NACTOY) competition consist of 50 respected automotive journalists from multiple print, broadcast, and online automotive sources. The NACTOY awards were founded in 1994 by veteran auto journalist Christopher Jensen and are the longest-running new-vehicle awards not associated with a single publication, website, radio, or broadcast station.

To be eligible, the vehicle must be all-new or significantly redesigned in the specified model year. The judgment criteria include outstanding innovation, design, performance, driver satisfaction, and value.

They Are Winners Already

The winners will be announced on January 4, 2024, at M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan, where Chevrolet has a two out of three chance of taking home a trophy. Of course, just making it to the semi-finalist stage makes a vehicle a winner.
