2025 Equinox EV: More Power, Same Price

The 2025 model year poses a new challenge for EV manufacturers: the early adopters who were eager to go electric have bought their EVs and will probably keep them for a while. The stage is now set for EVs to be considered by the general car-buying public, which is still skeptical of the change. Part of Chevrolet’s 2024 strategy was to add the Equinox EV to the heart of the market, the best-selling compact crossover category. For 2025, they will increase value in the way of more power without increasing the price while adding some desirable new features. Chevrolet of Spring Valley is here to tell you more.

More Power, Same Efficiency

The 2025 Equinox EV retains its 85-kilowatt-hour battery pack but extracts more power out of the electric motors. Front-drive models now have an increase in 7 more horsepower and seven pounds-feet of torque, for a total of 220 horsepower and 243 pounds-feet of torque. All-wheel-drive modes have a larger increase with 300 hp and 355 pounds-feet, an increase of 12 and 22, respectively. Chevrolet says the FWD model’s range is unchanged from 2024, at 319 miles; however, the company makes no mention of the AWD EV’s range, which was 285 miles. The Equinox can take up to 150 kilowatts on a DC fast charger, allowing it to add 77 miles of range in 10 minutes. Despite the power increase, the FWD model retains its 319-mile range. The range for the 2025 AWD model has not yet been announced. The figure is 285 miles for 2024.

A Full Suite of Safety Technologies

Standard safety features on the 2025 Equinox EV include: 

• Forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking

• Adaptive cruise control

• Lane departure warning and lane departure steering assist

• Blind spot steering assist

• Rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking

• Rear parking sensors

• Following distance indicator 

• Safety alert seat – Vibrates the sides of the driver’s seat bottom cushion to warn of potential hazards.

New Available Features

Other noteworthy standard equipment across the model line includes an 11-inch digital instrument panel and a 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google Built-In. 19-inch alloy wheels are standard on the base model, with 21-inch wheels on upper trims. New available features found on the Convenience II Package include a head-up display and a digital rearview mirror, which can switch from a conventional mirror to a display from a rear camera that shows what’s behind you without any possible obstruction from rear passengers or tall cargo. 

New Trim Naming

Speaking of trims, Chevrolet has renamed the trim levels on the Equinox EV for 2025. For 2024, the trim lineup was 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, 2RS and 3RS. The names were short but possibly not distinct enough from one another. For 2025, the trim hierarchy continues to have the two paths of LT and RS, but the numbers have given way to package names, much like what Acura has done with their vehicles for decades. The trim levels with their prices, including destination charges for FWD models, are as follows:

• LT $34,995

• LT with Comfort and Active Safety 2 Package $36,995

• LT with Comfort, Active Safety 2, and Convenience I Packages $43,295

• LT with Comfort, Active Safety 2, and Convenience II Packages $46,395

• RS $44,795

• RS with Convenience II Package $47,890

The 2025 Equinox EV model line qualifies for the full Federal Tax Credit for EVs, so if you fall under the income floor, you will be able to take off $7,500 from each of the prices above. As of this writing, the 2025 Equinox has not arrived in the Chevrolet of Spring Valley inventory.
