Autoblog LOVES The New 2024 Chevy Colorado
When it comes to trucks, Chevrolet knows a thing or two about making a great pickup. With the all-new Colorado, Chevrolet has created love affairs between the midsize pickup and automotive journalists around the country. With a high-output 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that produces 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, there isn’t much that can stand in the way of you and your destination.
Autoblog.com Review
Autoblog.com, one of the world’s largest and most respected online automotive websites, recently reviewed the Chevrolet Colorado and fell absolutely head over heels for it, saying, “The 2024 Chevrolet Colorado stands tall as our favorite midsize pickup truck this year for a host of reasons. For one, it drives exceedingly well with a stout engine, solid ride and superb off-road variants for whatever use case. The interior is jam-packed with tech that both looks great and works even better … a base Colorado Work Truck can be had at a respectably low price if you’re just looking for what the name implies: a work truck.”
Trim Levels & Power
The 2024 Colorado is available in five different trim levels, including, WT (Work Truck), LT, Trail Boss, Z71, and the legendary ZR2. WT and LT models are standard with 2WD and have available 4WD, while the rest of the lineup comes standard with 4WD. The base WT and LT models feature a 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that produces 237 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. However, they can be optioned with the 2.7-liter TurboMax engine that puts out 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. All other trim levels come standard with the TurboMax. All models also have an 8-speed automatic transmission.
What Autoblog Loved
When discussing what the Colorado was like to drive and what they loved about its ride qualities, there was no shortage of praise from Autoblog as they said, “This body-on-frame pickup on its base/ street-oriented trims with rear leaf springs comports itself well in terms of both ride and handling. It’s reasonably composed, comfortable and civilized … Meanwhile, the ZR2 with its giant tires and Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers completely changes the game in terms of ride quality. It’s going to be the best performer both on and off the road. And if you truly want the best off-road performance, there’s the ZR2 Bison that takes things even further.”
Cargo Creativity
The only bed size available for the Colorado is a 5’1” bed. However, Autoblog.com found it to be incredibly useful, saying, “The bed itself might look like a regular pickup’s bed at first glance, but its tailgate is hiding a neat storage trick. A shallow bin of sorts on the inside of it can be flipped up and small items stowed in there. We could see it being helpful for things you always want on hand but don’t want flying around the bed, and possibly even convenient for tailgate parties as an additional place to put things.”
Interior Tech
The long-running news and review site also loved the standard 11-inch digital gauge cluster screen along with the standard 11.3-inch infotainment touchscreen that has Google Built-in, which allows it to run Google Maps natively. But, as Autoblog noted, Chevrolet balanced the amount of screens with the right amount of knobs: “The cabin isn’t all screens, though, as Chevy sticks with hard buttons/knobs for vital items like climate controls, drive modes and volume control. A hefty, traditional PRNDL shifter is slotted in the center console; there is plenty of space in both the cupholders and door pockets for your beverage necessities.”
Towing Capacity
The Chevrolet Colorado can also easily tow up to 7,700 lbs when properly equipped, making it one of the best in its segment. This means buyers shouldn’t worry about what the Colorado lacks or can’t do but instead what extra hobbies they’re going to add to their lives to fully enjoy the abilities of their award-winning mid-size Chevy truck.
Safety First
Utility isn’t all the Colorado is great at, though. The Colorado comes standard with Chevy Safety Assist features such as Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, and IntelliBeam automatic high-beam assist. Plus, all trim levels can be optioned with Blind Zone Steering Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, HD Surround Vision, and Rear Pedestrian Alert.
