Chevy Trax Named To Car & Driver 10Best List

The Chevrolet Trax was expected to get the boot after 2023, but Chevy shocked everyone with a significantly updated SUV for the 2024 model year. It grew by almost a foot in length and has a longer wheelbase, giving it a smoother, more confident ride quality. Those qualities were positive enough that Car & Driver recently named the Trax to its 10 Best Trucks and SUVs list, placing it among esteemed company.

The publication cites the Trax’s high level of value and usability as factors in its strong showing. It grew in size without gaining weight, and the SUV got a sleeker look that gave it more of a wagon profile. Some configurations weighed in at less than previous models, making the SUV more efficient and livelier to drive. 

Chevy equips the Trax with a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine, making 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. The Trax is front-wheel-drive-only, and a six-speed automatic transmission is standard. Fuel economy reaches 28 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.

Car & Driver said the new Trax is surprisingly quiet inside, and its spacious interior offers five comfortable seats with a solid amount of cargo space. Its lower roof doesn’t cut into headroom, and the front seats are nicely padded and supportive for adults. Outward visibility is good in all directions. 

Cloth upholstery comes standard, and synthetic leather is available. Power-adjustable seats, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel are also available. Cargo space reaches 25.6 cubic feet behind the second-row seats and 54.1 cubic feet with the seats folded flat.

An eight-inch touchscreen comes standard, bringing wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM radio, four speakers, and two USB ports. Chevy offers an 11-inch touchscreen in higher trims, an eight-inch digital gauge cluster, wireless phone charging, remote start, six speakers, and more.
