Corvette Z06 Named Finalist For MotorAuthority Best Buy
Automotive publications often rank vehicles that they feel are good buys for the upcoming year, and Motor Authority recently released its list of the cars to buy in 2024. Among them is the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, one of the most exciting and unique Corvette models ever released. The car is a finalist to win the publication’s 2024 car to buy, but it’s got stiff competition from the Acura Integra Type S, BMW M2, and several others.
Motor Authority said the Z06 “finally gives the C8 the powertrain the chassis deserves.” In place of the 6.2-liter LT2 V8, Chevy gave the Z06 a 5.5-liter V8 with a flat-plane crank that revs to the heavens and makes a beautiful sound while doing it. Output lands at an impressive 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. It pairs with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and rear-wheel drive.
The supercar’s impressive performance specs: 2.6 seconds 0-60 mph, 1.22 G lateral force, and an 8600 rpm redline give the Z06 its breathtaking driving experience. Chevy moved to a mid-engine design in 2020, which gave the Corvette more balanced handling and responsive cornering than the previous front-engine design. It also allows engineers to give the car more power while maintaining traction.
Chevy didn’t forget creature comforts in the Z06, as the car comes standard with GT1 bucket seats wrapped in Mulan leather, a 12-inch digital gauge cluster, and an 8-inch touchscreen. The automaker’s excellent infotainment system runs smoothly on the display, bringing wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and much more.

Chevrolet’s infotainment system is colorful, nicely contrasted, and easy to use while driving. Menus are clearly labeled, and navigating through various settings is more intuitive than most would probably expect. On top of that, the car comes with a long list of standard features that add to its value and make it much easier to live with on a daily basis.

The Z06 comes in coupe and convertible formats, but all models have a wider body and more aggressive look than the Corvette Stingray. Larger side intakes provide better cooling for the engine and braking systems, and the wider body can accommodate wider wheels and tires for better grip and performance.
While it’s rare for a car like the Z06 to receive crash testing, Chevy installs a solid list of standard safety features for added peace of mind. Standard driver aids include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warnings, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, active handling stability control with traction control, performance traction management, rear parking assist, an HD rearview camera system, lane keep assist with lane departure warnings, forward collision alerts, a teen driver mode, and OnStar.
