The flexible platform can transform almost any truck, car, SUV, or crossover into an all-electric vehicle. You can expect to see the Ultium Platform on upcoming Chevy vehicles such as the all-new Silverado EV. So what makes the next Chevy electric vehicles even better than today’s EVs? 

Reduced Costs

The future generation of Chevy EVs will be more affordable than ever. With increased production of Ultium parts, Chevrolet will see reduced costs across the entire supply chain. 

The Ultium battery is made of aluminum, a cheaper alternative to cathode, reducing the overall price of the battery while decreasing the charge time. 

Faster Charging Time

The new Chevy EVs will charge almost four times faster than a current electric vehicle. For example, you can add a 100-mile range to the Silverado EV in around 10 minutes. Most Ultium vehicles come will have a 400-volt battery pack and 200-kW DC fast-charging capability. Electric trucks will use an 800-volt battery with a 350-kW DC fast-charging capability. 

Smoother Handling 

Ultium battery is placed for a 50/50 weight balance, providing a more responsive, smoother ride. The Ultium battery is also enclosed in a protective case to prevent damage and prolong the life of the battery. 

Improved Range

The Ultium battery is crafted with the perfect mixture of ethically-sourced raw materials, including nickel, cobalt, manganese, and aluminum, for a longer-lasting charge. A great example is the new Silverado EV, which will offer up to 400 miles on a full charge. From a 25-mile daily commute to a 200-mile getaway, the Ultium platform offers enough range to take you where you need to go.
