No 10Best List for 2025, But the Corvette remains a Car and Driver Favorite

The Chevrolet Corvette did not make the Car and Driver 10Best list for 2025. Perhaps it was simply a desire not to do the obvious. After all, when the Corvette made the list for 2024, it marked the 25th time the model received the honor. That is more times than any other model, except for the Honda Accord, which also did not make the 2025 list. Despite missing out on the latest list, Chevrolet of Spring Valley highlights some of the many reasons why America’s sports car remains so beloved by Car and Driver and anyone else who appreciates high performance.

When the model earned the award for 2024, Car and Driver bemoaned the fact that the top-ranging Corvette Z06 tipped the financial scales past their $110,000 price ceiling for consideration. No matter. There was plenty else in the model line to garner the award. They pointed out that the entry-level Stingray still offered an amazing level of performance for its price, of which the starting MSRP is presently $68,300. They recommended the Z51 package, which consists of:

  • Z51 performance Brembo® brakes
  • Z51 performance suspension
  • Performance exhaust
  • Performance rear axle ratio
  • Electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD)
  • Z51-specific front splitter and rear spoiler
  • Michelin® Pilot® Sport 4S 245/35ZR19 front and 305/30ZR20 rear, high performance, run-flat, summer-only tires
  • Heavy-duty cooling system

So equipped, the Stingray could transition from standing still to 60 mph in just under 3 seconds and provide over 1.0 g of lateral grip. When it is time to bring things to a halt, it will come down from 70 mph to a complete stop in 150 feet. As they state: “For the money, there isn’t another production car in the world that achieves these feats.” The interior, which had historically been a weak spot, has been world-class since the emergence of the C8 model.

They then turned their attention to the Corvette E-Ray hybrid model that was recently introduced. Doing the limbo under their price ceiling at $106,595, the E-Ray proved a pure example of the performance aspect of hybrid technology. With an electric motor at the front axle and the mid-mounted 6.2-liter V8 powering the rear, the E-Ray bolted to 60 mpg in 2.5 seconds, which made it the quickest Corvette they ever tested. The car could also run from the electric motor alone for a short distance. It appears designed to let you leave home in the morning without waking the family or neighbors, as the EV operation must be set before you start the car. After the EV mode is depleted, or the car exceeds 45 mph, you are “stuck” with the combined 655 hp drivetrain from there on out.

So, no, the Corvette didn’t make Car and Driver’s 10Best list for the 26th time. However, no other sports car took its place, which indicates to us at Chevrolet of Spring Valley that the Corvette is still the best high-performance sports car you can buy for the money.
