Trax Named “Favorite Affordable Vehicle” by Midwest Automotive Media Association

The Midwest Automotive Media Association (MAMA) announced seven category winners for their favorite vehicle awards, each of which became a finalist for MAMA’s Favorite Vehicle of 2024 award. Chevrolet of Spring Valley is excited to inform you that the redesigned 2024 Trax was named MAMA’s Favorite Affordable Vehicle. 

This is a new award structure for MAMA. They previously issued just two awards, one for Family Vehicle of the Year and another for Luxury Family Vehicle of the Year. Those awards remain but are now two out of seven categories. The organization made the change to “recognize the diversity of vehicles available and of interest to the readers, viewers, and listeners of MAMA’s membership base.”

The Midwest Automotive Media Association dates back to 1990 and comprises 273 automotive journalists and public relations professionals from across the US and Canada. The automotive journalists individually test drive vehicles throughout the year, and all members are invited to gather together for three drive events:

• The MAMA Spring Rally
• MAMA’s Favorites Fall Fest
• Chicago Drives Electric

Voting on their category favorites narrowed an initial 100 eligible models to a few select members in each category. The Trax and the other category winners were voted upon after their Favorites Fall Fest.

“With more than 100 new, redesigned, or refreshed vehicles MAMA members could drive during 2023, it was time to assess the breadth and depth of product at each event and for the year as a whole,” said Robert Duffer, MAMA President. “You could say MAMA loves all of her vehicles equally, but everyone knows there’s only one MAMA’s Favorite.”

Reasons for MAMA choosing the Trax as one of this year’s favorites are easy to find. Though the least expensive model in the Chevrolet lineup, the redesigned Trax does not openly display its affordability with its dynamic Camaro-inspired face, upscale interior design, and larger size, which can comfortably seat five or carry up to 54.1 cubic feet of cargo. And yet, the Trax is indeed quite affordable, with a starting MSRP of $21,495. Even the top-level 2RS and Activ grades start at just $24,995.

MAMA members will now vote on which finalist they will name as MAMA’s Favorite Vehicle of 2024. The winner will be announced on February 8th at the 2024 Chicago Auto Show during a breakfast hosted by MAMA.
