What is the all-electric driving range of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV?

One of the biggest criticisms skeptics of electric vehicles have had is calling the range of these vehicles into question. After all, if you’re driving a long distance in a traditional ICE vehicle, all you have to do to extend your range is make sure to find a gas station before you run out of fuel. It’s not quite as easy as that when your vehicle is powered by electricity rather than gasoline, and historically EVs have had relatively low driving ranges. It was a fair criticism, but the keyword there is “was.”

Not only do a lot of gas stations now offer public DC Fast Charging stations across the country, but a lot of modern EVs have much higher electric driving ranges than many thought imaginable just a few short years ago. Technical EV Specs of the 2024 Silverado EV

Let’s just get the exciting information out of the gate right away: 450. Yes, the brand-new 2024 Chevy Silverado EV will have an all-electric driving range of an incredible 450 miles. It wasn’t long ago that 450 miles of electric range seemed like a dream, let alone having that kind of range in an electric pickup truck. What makes this number even more exciting is that it’s actually 50 miles more than General Motors had initially thought! When they unveiled the truck, it was announced the truck would have 400 miles of range, and that was impressive enough. Now, the EPA has officially announced the truck is capable of driving 450 miles on a single charge!

Chevrolet is not the first automaker to release an electric truck, as you might be aware. It has several predecessors, but even the initial target of 400 miles would have blown those competitors out of the water. The biggest competitor to the Chevy Silverado regardless of powertrain, the Ford F-150, introduced an EV pickup before Chevy, but the F-150 Lightning only generates 320 miles. The luxurious GMC revival of the HUMMER name can only stretch for 329 miles. And the Rivian RT1 – which is made by a company wholly dedicated to electric vehicles? It only gets 314 miles.
