Powertrain & Performance
Let’s start by taking a look at the powertrain found beneath the hood of the ZR2. There are three different versions of a new 2.7L turbocharged engine found throughout the Colorado lineup, but the High-Output version is what comes standard in the ZR2 trim level. This version of the engine is capable of generating up to 310 horsepower alongside 430 pound-feet of torque. Performance is further enhanced by a high-performance three-inch factory lift and its upgraded Multimatic DSSV dampers. In addition to all of its off-road capabilities, the Colorado ZR2 is still capable of trailering up to 6,000 pounds.
Standard Features & Tech
Now that we’ve got the truck’s brand-new powertrain out of the way, let’s dive into some of the exciting content and amenities found in the pickup truck. As the top trim level available for the vehicle, you know it has plenty of premium features & tech found standard. This includes its unique interior color called Artemis, which is paired with Strike-colored accents and ZR2 badging throughout the interior. The cabin is also outfitted with unique rotary control trim and features like heated front seats and an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
As for the vehicle’s exterior, the front fascia has been redesigned not only to deliver a higher clearance but a more exciting aesthetic as well. This includes new LED lighting, cut-out corners, the Chevy “Flow Tie,” 17” wheels with 33” mud/terrain tires and more. One such “more” is its modified front and rear bumpers, which not only enhance the vehicle’s look, but enable better angles of approach and departure and help to clear obstacles while off-roading.
Other off-road features include the aforementioned Multimatic DSSV dampers – which are a segment exclusive, special cast-iron control arms, selectable electronic locking differentials in both the front and back, a modified rear axle that features a 3.42 ratio, rocker panel protection, transfer case shield and a new aluminum skid plate that protects both the radiator and engine oil pan.
